What are different investment models for investing in NPS?

Individuals can invest in NPS under 2 models:

All Citizens of India model

Under this model, individuals can voluntarily invest in NPS basis his investment goals

Employee model

Under this model, individuals can invest in employee-employer group

  • Government Sector: All the employees of Central Autonomous Bodies (except for armed forces) who have joined on or after January 1, 2004, and are mandatorily covered under Government sector of NPS and employees contribute towards pension from monthly salary along with matching contribution from the employer. Employees of state governments of the states which have adopted the NPS architecture contribute towards pension from monthly salary along with matching contribution from the employer.
  • Private Sector (Non-Government Sector): NPS Corporate Sector Model is the customized version of NPS to suit various organizations and their employees to adopt NPS as an organized entity within purview of their employer-employee relationship.
